Development and Special Events

Melissa Clark
I started out at The ArtsCenter as an intern working in the development department. Right now, though, my main project is helping plan an upcoming event celebrating The ArtsCenter. I thoroughly enjoy volunteering at The ArtsCenter. It has been a great learning experience and is always so much fun!

Volunteers are Photo Blogging at The ArtsCenter!

Lisa Pepin: I run the ArtsCenter's photoblog, located at www.theartscenter.wordpress.com. I attend concerts, performances and classes to promote the ArtsCenter through photography. I'm a Photojournalism and American History major at UNC, minoring in Arabic. I have previously been an assistant photo editor at the Daily Tar Heel and the official photographer for the International Festival in Raleigh. I shoot primarily with a Canon 50D, 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lens, and a 70-200mm f/2.8L lens.

Lindsay Booth: I work on the ArtsCenter's new photoblog. My job is fairly simple; I take
pictures at ArtsCenter events and post them on the blog. I cover classes,
concerts, theater performances, and basically anything else that goes on at
the ArtsCenter. I enjoy working at the ArtsCenter because of the
opportunity it gives me to meet many different types of people.

Interns from the Summer of 2009

I work at The ArtsCenter as an intern four mornings a week as a volunteer coordinator. I post volunteer opportunities for The ArtsCenter with various service organizations, on volunteer website, with local schools and I also communicate with potential volunteers and inform them of events for which we need assistance. Volunteers are extremely important at The ArtsCenter because they help to ensure that programs, events and classes run smoothly. Serving at the The ArtsCenter has given me great experience organizing volunteers, working at a nonprofit, and interacting with staff and members of the community.

Alex Hill

I work with the development department to streamline the grant finding and application process so that the ArtsCenter can take full advantage of grant opportunities. My volunteer work at the ArtsCenter is a wonderful learning opportunity to explore the details of arts administration and a fun way to give back to the community!
