2012 Teaching Artist Workshop

If you are a teaching artist who is interested in working with The ArtsCenter in area schools, this workshop is for you!

During the workshop you will learn about The ArtsCenter's Arts In Education programming, as well as work with Master Teaching Artist Sheila Kerrigan to understand the new NORTH CAROLINA COMMON CORE and ESSENTIAL STANDARDS CURRICULUM being implemented in the 2012-2013 school year. Kerrigan, author of The Performer’s Guideto the Collaborative Process, performs, directs, and teaches in schools, with at-risk youth, and in community settings and is the president of the Southeast Center for Arts Integration. As a fellow with A+ Schools,she has led professional development workshops for teachers and artists onintegrating the arts with  curricular goals in five states.

The workshop fee is $10, and refreshments are included. You are encouraged to bring a bag lunch and examples of your work to share with other participants from 12-1pm following the workshop.

It is a requirement that all teaching artists wishing to be considered for Arts In Education programming in schools through The ArtsCenter attend one of the offered Teaching Artist Workshops. In addition to attending the workshop, any interested artists must also have a complete application on file at The ArtsCenter. Contact Arts in Education Coordinator Tracy Thomas for a copy of the application. You may turn this in on or before the date of the workshop.

You can pay the fee ahead of time (via check through the mail) or pay the day of the workshop.
