Summer ArtsCampNEW! Workshops for Parents

Is reading with your child at home turning into a chore? Does your child groan when you try to encourage him/her to practice multiplication facts? If you are a parent that would love to learn new arts integration strategies for working with your elementary child at home these workshops are for YOU!

Enhancing Your Child’s Literacy Experiences!
Thursday, May 16, 2013; 6-7:30pm

Teaching Artist: Susie Wilde
As a parent, you are the first and most important teacher for your child, and it is often up to you to ensure your child finds pleasure in learning. Join us for this hands-on examination of books for elementary school students and learn playful methods to enhance your child’s literacy experiences.

Dancing Your Way Through Math!
Monday, June 3, 2013; 6-7:30pm
Teaching Artist: Katie Moorehead
Math and dance might seem like two different worlds, but they are more linked than you might think. Come dance, move and play to learn new strategies for improving your child’s math skills. This workshop will focus on understanding sequences- recognizing patterns, creating and manipulating a series of movements, and then understanding a variety of geometry math concepts. Through movement, you will learn to make number sequencing fun and make multiplication facts more exciting! No dance experience is needed, but be prepared to move around.
