Southern Comfort screening and Q&A with Lola Cola
6:30 pm
Planned Parenthood presents Lola Cola and the Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winning Documentary Southern Comfort, to celebrate the start of testosterone therapy for trans men and trans masculine clients in their Chapel Hill health center. Southern Comfort follows the final year in the life of Robert Eads, a female-to-male transsexual. Eads, diagnosed with ovarian cancer, was turned down for treatment at two dozen doctors out of fear that caring for such a patient would hurt their reputations. By the time Eads received treatment, the cancer was too advanced to save his life. During his final year, Robert fell in love with a male-to-female transsexual, Lola Cola, who will introduce the film and do a Q&A afterward. Thanks to partners in planning, Equality NC, their Trans Policy Task Force, and the generosity of local sponsors, benefits will help provide health care for transgender people coming to Planned Parenthood.
