Thursday, June 28, 2012
7:00 pm

Concerned about our environment?

The NC legislature is rushing ahead with fracking. The bill as already been sent to the governor.

Learn about fracking and the consequences it has had in other states before it comes to our area at a free screening of A Message From The Marcellus: What NC Needs To Know About Fracking.

A Message From The Marcellus: What NC Needs To Know About Fracking
is a 20-minute short film created by Todd Tinkham and Molly Matlock to help stop fracking from becoming legal in North Carolina. The filmmakers traveled to PA and NY and LA interviewing people from all walks of life about the impacts of natural gas fracking on their communities. The filmmakers now travel all over North Carolina screening their film for free and sharing what they learned with others.
Todd Tinkham, the director of "A Message From The Marcellus" has had films screen at more than three-hundred film festivals on five continents, including SLAMDANCE and The Palm Springs International Film Festival.
A Q&A and discussion with Elaine Chiosso, Executive Director of The Haw River Assemblyand the filmmakers will follow the screening.  Elaine will deliver a 25 minute presentation on fracking: What it is, what it does, why we need to stop it.
You can find out about other screenings of the film and fracking protests around the state on the Dispersed Facebook page and on the Don't Frack NC website.
