Transactors Improv: Holiday Musical Extravaganza!

Saturday, December 1, 2012
8:00 pm

A Holiday Show for All Ages!  Celebrate the ups and downs of the holiday season....

Transactors Improv presents its biggest show of the year. This two-act improvised show in the tradition of Broadway musicals features musicians Danny Gotham (guitar), Rob Ladd (drums), and musical director Glenn Mehrbach (piano)

Guest improvisers round out the show: Vinny Daraio, Sharon Eisner, Ashley Melzer, Rick Skarbez, and Jane Allen Wilson.  Daraio, Melzer, and Skarbez are regulars at DSI in Carrboro, Eisner performs with Durham’s Zen Fried Improv, and Wilson is a former Transactor who is involved in numerous improv, theater, and dance projects in the Triangle.

In addition to Daraio, Eisner, Melzer, Skarbez, and Wilson, the cast for “Holiday Musical Extravaganza” includes Transactors regulars Anoo Brod, Greg Hohn, and Steven Warnock with Mike Beard improvising technical effects.

Mehrbach first worked with Transactors in 2000. Formerly musical director for cabaret chanteuse Andrea Marcovicci, and pianist and arranger for Carolina Ballet, Glenn is currently Music Director at Community Church of Chapel Hill, Unitarian Universalist, Music Performance Instructor at Camelot Academy in Durham, and Staff Associate in the Music and Theatre departments at Duke University.

Gotham, who once took Second Place in the prestigious National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship, has performed on the nationally syndicated radio broadcast Michael Feldman’s “Whad’ya Know?” and on the soundtrack of the PBS film “Hungers of the Soul.” He has released four well-received albums of his own and has appeared as a sideman on many other releases and in live performances.

Ladd has a resume as long as your arm with a drumstick in it. He has played on recordings by and on tour with artists including Roger Daltrey, Susanna Hoffs, Alanis Morissette, Tom Paxton, the Red Clay Ramblers, and the Pressure Boys.
This Trasactors' tradition features music, merriment, and an extra vaganza in case one isn't enough.
Transactors, whose motto is: If you laugh we’re doing comedy; if you don’t we’re doing drama.
