PlaySlam! presented by ArtsCenter Stage and the Playwrights Roundtable
8:00 pm
Back for the 10th year, it’s the one and only, ever-popular, never-duplicated, totally untamed PlaySlam!
This ArtsCenter Stage original in collaboration with the Playwrights Roundtable works something like a poetry slam with very, very, very short plays (1-3 minutes in length) vying for fame, and fortune. Who wins? The audience decides!
With one night only for rehearsal AND performance, the actors dive headlong onto the stage and perform all Round 1 plays. The audience votes on their top 5 playwrights and those 5 playwrights proceed to Round 2. The playwright with the most votes at the end of the night wins the $100 prize.
Yes, the PlaySlam is just that fast and just that furious!
As winning playwright John Boni says, “The PlaySlam is the most fun you can have without breaking the law!”
The PlaySlam mixes high art and low math in one fell swoop and is an opportunity for playwrights, actors, and audiences to mix it up. Professionals and first-timers are on equally uneven footing on this raucous and rollicking adventure.
