–in the Nicholson Gallery

What began as a protest against the destruction of a natural landscape becomes in these photographs a far more nuanced exploration of the spiritual and emotional reality of emptiness itself. The horizon line, seen or unseen, holds everything together.

April’s Emerging Artist: Fab Bianchi–in The ArtsCenter’s Corridor

EAS_Bianchi_Jack-Be-Nimble,-Jack-Be-Nesquik

Fabrizio Bianchi’s Paintagonia series is best described as a palimpsest journal celebrating personal memories of the urban landscapes of North and Latin America thru faded images of street art, advertisements and childhood icons. The broken and semi-transparent images utilized in each painting represent mental polaroids of faded displays and posters stylized with bright flashes of logos, lettering and comic book characters. As a result, these textural time capsules illustrate a gritty, global commentary of past and present, spoken thru a graffiti painted ‘bicultural slang’.

Opening Reception: Friday, April 10th, 6-8pm in the Nicholson Gallery and will be held in conjunction with the 2nd Friday ArtWalk. The exhibit will be on display April 1st-30th.
