General Information About ArtsCamp:
There are many
ways your child can experience the arts this summer at The ArtsCenter!
ArtsCamps offer a wide variety of opportunities for your child to explore
his/her creativity. From painting, ceramics, and collage to photography,
movement, and drama, your child is sure to find something that nurtures his/her
artistic interests.
With one-week and two-week programs, half-day and full-day options, as well
as an early arrival and late departure service, our camps provide you with many
options. Mix and match among our three programs – KidsCamp, ArtsFocus, and
Little Campers – to fit your schedule and your child’s interests.

KC1: Arts Around the World
June 14-25
Start the
summer off with a creative journey around the world! This camp will
explore the unique art of different places and cultures through a variety of art
forms and media. From arts and crafts to music and movement, your camper
is sure to have a full itinerary on these artistic travels!
KC2: Arts Immersion
June 28-July 9 (No camp Monday, July
5)
Get back to basics in this camp! This camp will explore a
variety of art forms from the visual to the performing and will examine the
fundamentals of each. Perfect for campers of all levels of experience,
this camp is a great way to brush up on some basic artistic skills, as well as
learn some new ones.
KC3: Art & Nature
July 12-23
Let’s think
green! The natural world will serve as our inspiration in this camp.
From landscapes and natural materials to re-using and re-cycling objects, this
camp will bring the outdoors in. Campers will creatively explore nature
through different art forms, such as painting, drawing, movement, and drama, to
name just a few.

KC4: Art Explorers
July 26-August 6
Let your
imagination take off, as we explore the world of art in this camp! Campers
will journey far and wide through different art forms and media during this
two-week session. A mixture of theatre, music, movement, and arts and
crafts will guide us along the way.
KC5: OffBeat Arts
August 9-20
Take a
step off of the beaten path and let your creativity flow! Your camper will
think outside the box in this two-week camp and will explore art from a
different perspective. Activities will cover a range of art forms such as,
mixed media and collage to movement and drama in this two-week
camp. What a perfect way to end the summer on a funky note!

LC1: Art Safari
June 14-18, 9am-noon
Do you hear the
tall grasses rustling? Is it the wind, or a high-stepping herd of giraffes? Your
little camper’s imagination will get lots of exercise in this camp! Through
music, movement, painting, drawing, and collage, we’ll explore the wildest parts
of our creativity in this session.

LC2: The Places We Will Go
June 21-25, 9am-noon
Let
your imagination be your guide! In this session, Little Campers will journey to
far off lands using painting, theatre, and movement as a few of their vehicles.
A great camp for those with adventurous spirits!
LC3: Once Upon a Time
July 26-30, 9am-noon
For the
Little Camper with a love of fantastical tales and magical adventures! Using
arts, crafts and creative movement, we’ll be transported to a time long ago and
far away, when dragons ruled the land and pirate ships owned the seas.
This camp is perfect for the camper with a huge imagination!

Is your camper interested in
playing with clay? If so, then sign up early for one of these sessions! This
camp will focus on handbuilding and wheelthrowing techniques, and campers will
also have the chance to work with glaze. One-of-a-kind, kiln-fired pieces
will be available to take home at the end of the session.
AF6: Let's Make a Play
August 9-20, 1-4pm
This is one
of our most popular camps and perfect for the drama enthusiast! Campers will
explore all aspects of staging a play, from casting to curtain calls. Your
camper will gain hands-on skill building and fun with set design, script
writing, acting and more!

One-Week ArtsFocus - Cost: $130 Public, $120 Members
AF7: Watercolor & Collage
June 14-18, 1-4pm
For
the young artist who loves to mix their media! This camp will explore the basics
of watercolor, as well as provide a chance to play with layers of color and
texture and to develop a personal style. Campers will have an opportunity to
experiment with unique designs and forms while gaining skills and having
fun.
AF8: Digital Photography (ages 10-12)
June 21-25,
9am-noon
Is your camper a shutterbug or a budding
photographer? If so, then this camp is the place to be! Campers will
learn how to use a digital camera more effectively during this session, covering
photography basics such as framing, composition, and lighting. Please
note: Campers will need to provide their own digital camera for this camp.
AF9: Intro to Digital Arts (ages 10-12)
June 21-25,
1-4pm
Campers will take their creativity into the digital realm in
this camp! Learning the tools in Adobe Photoshop, plus Open Source
programs including GIMP, campers will gain skills in using this program to edit
images and to create new, digital works of art.
AF10: Sculpture & Papier-Mâché
June 21-25,
1-4pm
The possibilities are endless with three-dimensional art
forms! Campers will try out an array of techniques including sculpting with
wire, clay, and cardboard. This is a fantastic chance to think “outside the box”
and create works as bold as your imagination.

AF11: Hip-Hop & Creative Movement
June 28-July 2,
9am-noon
This camp has been a huge HIT in past summers and is sure
to fill up again this year. Campers will learn basic steps and choreography
while dancing to the hottest music. Through a variety of dance styles, campers
will develop their skills and gain confidence in a fun environment.
AF12: Create Your Own Book!
June 28-July 2, 1-4pm
Does
your camper have a story to tell? This camp is perfect for the young journal
writer, photographer, collage artist, or storybook lover who wants to develop
their first masterpiece. We’ll have fun while learning the tools needed to craft
a unique, bound volume to display our best work, whether it be a journal, story,
or art book…the possibilities are endless!
AF13: Scrap Art
July 6-9, 9am-noon (No camp Monday, July
5)
Re-use, re-imagine, re-create is the theme of this camp! Campers
will transform materials that are broken, rusted, and “ruined” into art.
Collage, mosaic, and found object sculpture all have a place in this session,
ideal for the artist whose creativity knows no bounds.
AF14: Cartooning & Comics
July 6-9, 1-4pm (No camp Monday,
July 5)
Back after a popular run last summer, this camp is sure to
be a big hit! For the artist who wants to tell a story with text and images,
we’ll explore a wide variety of forms, from comic strips to the graphic novel,
as well as caricatures and cartoons. All kinds of stories are welcome, so
bring your wildest ideas!
AF15: Puppetry & Mask
Making
July 12-16, 9am-noon
Puppets! Masks! Art will come ALIVE
in this camp. From simple finger puppets to complex masks, young artists will
get plenty of hands-on time to craft imaginative creatures from a wide variety
of media.
AF16: Drawing Techniques
July 12-16, 1-4pm
Artistic
expression starts with a solid foundation in drawing! Campers will learn new
techniques and strengthen existing ones while exploring the use of pen, pencil,
charcoal, and pastels. This camp fills up fast, so don’t wait to
sign-up!
AF17: Painting Techniques
July 19-23, 9am-noon
Whether
your camper is a practiced painter or picking up a brush for the first time,
this session is a great opportunity to develop new skills with paint. We’ll be
gaining experience with acrylic and watercolor, while increasing confidence and
encouraging personal expression.
AF18: Screenprinting & Fabric Arts
July 19-23,
1-4pm
Create one-of-a-kind designs by combining paint and fabric!
Campers will learn art fundamentals such as, pattern, design, and positive and
negative space in this camp, as we explore stamps and batik, as well as
screenprint t-shirts, cards, and other projects.
AF19: Frogs, Finches, & Fairies!
August 2-6,
9am-noon
Looking to nature for inspiration and raw materials,
campers will construct imaginative dwellings for their favorite creatures. We’ll
use items found in the garden, woods, and back yard to make houses for birds,
reptiles, and magical beings. Get creative in this camp’s fun blend of mixed
media and sculpture!
AF20: Fashion & Fiber Arts
August 2-6,
1-4pm
Explore the vast possibilities of wearable art! In this camp,
we’ll alter clothing, learn simple stitching, and create designs with fabrics
and fibers. Perfect for campers who’ve always dreamed of showing their
style on the catwalk!
AF21: Portraits & Landscapes
August 9-13,
9am-noon
What makes a portrait powerful? Which landscapes capture
our imagination? Why have some images of people or places become icons, while
others fade as soon as they are created? Using these questions as starting
points, campers will begin the journey toward finding their own style with these
forms. This camp will explore the abstract and the representative, from
silhouettes to realism and all that falls in between!
AF22: Playing with Pigment
August 16-20,
9am-noon
Colors affect mood and bring artwork to life. In this camp,
we’ll examine how colors work together to unify a design and how they can
“fight” and create tension or drama. Campers will work with a variety of media
and pigments to gain confidence and experience with color selection and
juxtaposition.
